I think that PhpBB 3 will destroy PhpBB 2 when the Gold Version is released since there wouldn't be a reason why you shouldn't go with PhpBB 3. What do you think?

I just saw a phpBB 3 forum a while ago and I say it already kicks phpBB 2.

I think it will take a while before PhpBB2 is taken over by PhpBB3. There are many reasons for it. PhpBB2 are widely used, there is so many hacks and mods to it, which might not work with P3. In some cases people has bridged P2 with a CMS and having the userdatabase shared between those. So i think P2 will be around for a while more as long there as enough of users and developers supporting it.

PhpBB 3 will have everything what PhpBB 2 has but better. I have already made a list of mods which my phpbb2 forum has and phpbb3 does too.

I like phpb 2 better. It just seems....easier in a way.

PhpBB3 will take over eventually from PhpBB2, but it won´t happen soon. Maybe within 2008 or the beginning of 2009 it will have taken over from PhpBB2. The complications with plugins, mods and hacks and having those converted to PhpBB3 will hesitate many site owners to change until a version of a plugin/mod/hack will work perfectly on PhpBB3. And transferring the users, their posts and other data will require a bit of work and that will make many big site owners hesitate to change to PhpBB3.

Once PHPbb 3 becomes mainstream and widely used it will obviously overtake phpbb2

In my aspect, phpBB3 will defiantly over come phpBB2. It has all the same features and are better. Also support for the newer version will be better as phpBB2 is old.

Phpbb3 is great .It is rich in several standard features that are not build in phpbb2.But Phbb 2 is more easier to learn than Phbb3.Phbb 3 is better from the code point of view.It is easier to do things with this.It is more secure also.So i think phbb 3 beat phbb 2.
