They generally don't cost a lot. I use namecheap for all my domain purchases

A good way to get domains is by using Paid-To-Post forums. Sometimes they give you a free domain in exchange of a X number of post: eg, 60 posts.
Also you can get money from these forums and buy a domain. It's the same. I strongly recommend this way to get domains because you learn new things by partecipating at the forums and at the same time get a domain or money from them.

Getting a domain name is an easier one. Before that we have to get a catchier name that easily attracts and make them attached to clients mind forever. SO try getting a good one and thats important.
