I was wandering what you guys think is the best design programs? I am a fan of fireworks, but I hear some diffrent opinions.

I personally am a huge fan of Corel Draw X3. I like it because it does vector drawings and it is very simple to use.

GIMP is somewhat confusing at first, if you get the hang of it you can do a ton.

Yes. If you want free it is gimp. If you want THE BEST of the best, go with photoshop.

another vote in favour of GIMP although even if you keep its cost aside, you only need to get accustomed to its gui and then there is no hold bars for you.

Photoshop and Illustrator have the win hands down.

I have 3+ years experience in Photoshop and I love it.

Right as for advanced users: photoshop
For newbies, not photoshop (never tried anything els)
i was asking my friends over msn and live getting to learn photoshop.. following i can only edit text and change size lol
