Default USB port 2.0??? - 01-13-2009, 05:04 AM

I was copying data to an external hard drive and a message popped up saying that the process would go faster if I used a USB 2.0 port. I assumed the ports on the laptop were 2.0 cause it's only 2 years old. How do I determine which usb ports are 2.0? If I look in Device Manger it doesn't tell me the version of the ports. So guys please help me out from this situation. Thanks for any help. Have a great day.

USB 2.0 is a complete overhaul of the Universal Serial Bus input/output bus protocol which allows much higher speeds than the older USB standards. The new serial bus is to broaden the range of external peripherals that can be used on a computer. When USB 2.0 introduced Hi-Speed USB mode, it boosted bandwidth to 480Mbit/s or 60Mbyte/s.Many of them doubted that the USB 2.0 can handle the ever changing applications in today's world.USB 2.0 has a raw data rate at 480Mbps, and it is rated 40 times faster than its predecessor interface.
